When Women Speak with One Voice

There are moments when silence stops being modesty and becomes abandonment. Today the Idaksahak rise with a single voice, that of mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, to say what their hearts have long known. This voice does not call for revenge; it reminds. It reminds us first of a simple truth: whoever has tasted oppression knows its weight better than anyone, and so has no right to lay it on another. What we endured is not a license but a lesson. Our duty is to struggle with honor and dignity, as Madame Khadijoutou Walet Hamadou so beautifully expresses in this video. It then turns to those who carry our names and our hopes, whatever bond ties them to us. Keep Allah present in your mind before anger decides in your place. Quench the thirst of the one who is parched. Fill the belly of the starving child as far as your means allow. Reach out to the aged and the ailing. Shelter those who cannot defend themselves, and never degrade anyone. The faith we love commands fairness and kindness, and forbids abuse and every excess. Striking someone weaker has never raised anyone's standing; it only reveals a narrow soul. The truly noble are recognized by their bravery, their restraint, their uprightness, their tenderness toward the fragile, and their piety. When women speak with one voice, they do not ask for loud victories. They ask that our people defend themselves without disowning themselves, and that history remember us as people who stood tall, just, and dignified.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Heroes of the Idaksahak, men of honor, dignity, and faith. You carry the responsibility of protecting your people, your families, and your land, and we ask Allah to keep your hearts firm upon the right path.

We were not raised to become cruel simply because we have suffered cruelty. We were not raised to harm women, children, the elderly, the sick, or innocent people.

We were not raised to burn homes, destroy food, kill animals, or humiliate the weak. This is not our way, and this is not what we want from our men.

We want you to be courageous, just, merciful, and mindful of Allah in everything you do. Defend your people, preserve your dignity, and remember that true strength does not consist in harming the weak. True strength is remaining honorable even when you hold power in your hands.

We do not want revenge. We want our people to return to their land safely, with dignity, and with clean hands before Allah.
